Analyzing Visual Marketing in Flower Production

| The production fields of Floret Flower Farm in Washington State. |
Through the use of captivating imagery and sophisticated
styling, this image from the website of Floret Flower Farm appeals to a wide
audience and inspires those of us with horticultural tendencies to try our hand
at floral farming. This image is encountered on the home page and is part of a
carousel of words and pretty images that slowly rotate at the top of the
screen. The image draws the viewer in
with both the word 'beauty' in large, all caps font, but also through the
visual depiction of it. The font itself is regal and sophisticated, further
elevating the message and image. We see
a lush field, completely filled with flowers and greenery, the bed of a truck
in the foreground stuffed to overflowing with fresh-cut dahlia blooms. One assumes that the two people working in
the fields, one smiling at the other, are responsible for all this eye candy,
aside from, of course, the gorgeous sunset behind them. Even so, it still
almost feels as though these people have such control over and communion with
nature that they may very well have had something to do with the dazzling rays
of sun, bathing them and their flowers in golden yellow light. This in turn gives the impression that maybe
if these people can cultivate this kind of stunning beauty, maybe it's possible
for everyone. I think that’s called
inspiration.
